Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Nexus buckle?
The Nexus center-release buckle is the most common closure system used on residential hot tub and spa covers. It’s the plastic latch that clips together to hold your cover straps in place. Most covers sold in the US use this style of buckle.
How do I know which strap length I need?
Measure across the widest point of your spa cover — this is typically the width of the hot tub itself. Most spas are 7–8 feet wide, which fits our standard 8-foot kits. Larger spas (up to 10–12 feet) need our longer strap options.
What’s the difference between Standard and Center-Release buckles?
Standard buckles snap closed and open with a push or pull. Center-release buckles have a button in the middle you press to release — easier to open with one hand. Both are Nexus-compatible and widely used on spa covers.
What are Fireloc® heat-resistant buckles?
Standard plastic buckles can warp or degrade when exposed to heat from spa equipment or direct sunlight over long periods. Fireloc® buckles are engineered with heat-resistant materials specifically for spa and hot tub applications.
My latch broke — do I need a whole new strap system?
Not necessarily. If the strap webbing itself is in good shape, our repair kits replace just the buckle/latch. We carry kits in 2, 4, 6, and 8-piece quantities depending on how many latches need replacing.
